Indian kitchen

India is a country with a mysterious and exotic culture for most Europeans. The legacy of the “mother of all civilizations” is rich, but we are primarily interested in the field of culinary. Indians attach special importance to food, it is sanctified by tradition and is still significant in the country's social system.

Indian cuisine is as diverse as its culture, geography and climate. India is the birthplace of vegetarianism, due in part to climatic conditions, but to a large extent to religious prescriptions. Although this does not mean that in India you will not find meat dishes at all.

India is the birthplace of a huge number of spices that in ancient times were sold worth its weight in gold. It was for the sake of spices that Christopher Columbus went to look for a new path to India, and discovered America. It is spices that give Indian cuisine its inherent special flavor. Indians use the well-known coriander, caraway seeds, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and a lot of exotic spices: for example, mango powder or asafoetida. Indian dishes are usually very spicy, but for tourists, Indians are preparing a sparing option.
