Honey Glazed Ham


3 kg of smoked pork ham on the bone,
1 onion,
3 cloves of garlic,
2 bay leaves,
1 petiole of celery
1 tbsp. a spoon of mild mustard,
2.5 cm ginger root.
For honey glaze:
100 g sugar
1 tbsp liquid honey
4 tbsp. tablespoons of brandy.


Put the ham in a large pot, cover with cold water so that it is completely covered. Add onions, garlic, bay leaf, celery. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 2.5 hours. Chill. Cut a thick skin with a sharp knife, leaving a small layer of fat. Draw cuts in the form of a mesh on it with a knife. Put the ham on a baking sheet. Lubricate with mustard and in several places in the cuts stick the pieces of ginger.

For glaze: heat sugar, honey and cognac in a saucepan until the sugar melts. Spread the ham with the mixture. Bake for 30-40 minutes over medium heat.
