Try this drink, which was served to the legendary Aztec ruler Montezuma. Mexicans drink hot chocolate and be sure to boil it with milk.
For 4 cups:
40 g Mexican chocolate
3 cups of milk
1 cup of water
3 cinnamon sticks
1/4 tsp hot red pepper (optional)
Mexican chocolate can be replaced with 1/4 cup cocoa and 1/4 cup sugar.
Chop the chocolate. Pour 3 cups of milk into the pan, add 1 cup of water and put on medium heat. Add cinnamon stick and chocolate to milk. Stir the chocolate milk with a cinnamon stick so that everything mixes well and the milk smells like cinnamon. If desired, add 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper to make the milk slightly spicy. Bring to a slow boil. Cut two cinnamon sticks in half and put a stick in each cup. Beat milk with a whisk. Pour hot chocolate into cups and serve.
